How it works

One place for your music, your lessons and your gigs.

SongChute runs in your browser and is at its best on a tablet, and it works on a laptop or phone too. Pick the way you use music and see how it works.

For music teachers

Add your students and keep every lesson in one place.

Stop juggling text threads, loose PDFs and "what did we cover last week?". Give every student one place for their lessons, songs, videos and homework, and keep your materials behind a login.

  1. 1

    Turn on your Studio

Sign up, then tick "I teach music" in your settings. Your Studio appears in the menu. It takes a minute.

  2. 2

    Invite your students

Enter an email address. They get an invitation, tap Join now, create a free account and land straight in their lessons. Students never need a paid plan.

  3. 3

    Build a lesson

Name it, choose the student, search for songs, paste your unlisted YouTube or Vimeo link and write the homework. It takes a couple of minutes, and works on a tablet, laptop or phone.

  4. 4

    Teach and follow along

Students open the lesson with chords, key, capo, sheet music and your video. Present a song and they follow on their own screen, swipe for swipe.

  5. 5

    Keep notes and see progress

Private notes on every student, plus the ones you choose to share. Next lesson, you know exactly where you left off.

  • Free for up to 5 students with unlimited lessons

Playing in a band

Play together, gigging or just jamming in the garage.

Whether you play gigs every weekend or just get together to jam in the garage, a band runs on everyone having the same songs, in the same order. Set it up once and every bandmate has the same charts and setlists on their own device. No more digging through photos and messages before rehearsal.

  1. 1

    Build your songbook

Add songs with chords and lyrics, upload your own charts and sheet music, or start from the chord pages. Set the key and capo once.

  2. 2

    Plan the set

Create a gig or a rehearsal with its date, pick the songs and put them in order. Reorder the set in seconds, even backstage or in the garage.

  3. 3

    Invite your band

Bring in your bandmates with an email invitation. Everyone sees the same songs and setlists, and the changes anyone makes.

  4. 4

    Play it out

Open Present mode for a clean full screen chart, big and easy to read on a dark stage. Bandmates can follow your position live on their own tablet.

  5. 5

Keep track of what you played

Past gigs and rehearsals stay in one list: what was in the set and what to change next time.

  • Works in the browser on a tablet, laptop or phone, with nothing to install
  • Study mode for learning a new set before rehearsal
  • Sheet music and chord charts side by side
  • Free to start
